Present Groups in support of the TLM community

Sursum Corda

Sursum Corda is a parish apostolate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Rocky Mount whose mission is to promote personal sanctification through Traditional Divine Worship and devotionals, and to spread the Extraordinary Form of the Holy Mass within the community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Schola Vox Clara

Schola Vox Clara, founded in 2008, is a volunteer schola under the direction of Dr. Patricia Warren which provides traditional liturgical music (Gregorian chant and polyphony) to Extraordinary Form Masses in various parishes. SVC is responsible for the music at the first-Sunday TLM at Sacred Heart Cathedral and usually sings for one or two additional Missae Cantatae per month at Our Lady of Perpetual Help or Sacred Heart, Dunn. Rehearsals are on Thursday nights from 7:30-9 pm at St. Joseph Church in Raleigh.

Previous singing experience is helpful but training in chant and voice is provided. New adult singers are accepted year-round.

A youth schola class for interested youth 10-17 years old sings with Schola Vox Clara at the first-Sunday Mass, and rehearses on Thursday afternoons from 3:15-4:30 at St. Joseph’s as part of the St. Augustine Homeschool Enrichment Program; non-homeschooled students are also welcome to join.

Groups which the TMSR would like to start

A Juventutem chapter

The Juventutem International Federation is a Catholic network fostering the sanctification of youth worldwide according to the Roman traditions of the Church.  Juventutem serves young Catholics ages 16-36, with older members taking the leadership under the guidance of a priest.  Members undertake a simple daily/weekly discipline of prayer and assisting at Mass and a monthly meeting:

Daily/weekly commitments:

  1. to pray the psalm Judica me or some other prayer each day for the sanctification of youth
  2. to visit a church and adore Our Lord, once a week (can be before or after Sunday Mass)
  3. to attend the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) at least once a year
  4. to go to confession at least once a year
  5. to participate in at least one Juventutem event per year
  6. to annually support the International Juventutem Federation head office with prayer and funds (10€)

The backbone of Juventutem activities is the monthly meeting starting with Mass (in the EF as available), an informal meal, a doctrinal talk given by a (sound) cleric, “friendly recreation”, with Holy Hour optionally preceding or completing the day. The Juventutem meeting format is almost exactly what the TMSR envisions the Society’s monthly Latin Mass Day to be.

For more information, see the Juventutem website.

An association for Altar Servers and a Handmaids of the Altar group

Many flourishing TLM parishes have specific groups for training young men as altar boys and young ladies to care for and create altar linens and vestments. Ideally, these groups could meet once a month in their home parishes and once a month at the monthly TMSR day.
